Barcoding is an integral part of the ShopEdge system, from handling
customers-specific label requirements for shipped goods, to simplifying
inventory control. Barcoding reduces errors and simplifies data entry tasks.
For customer-specific label requirements, the system is capable of
printing custom-designed labels for finished product automatically by
assigning labels to a particular Ship To location. Labels can be
designed directly in our system using our integrated barcode label
designer.
Barcodes are used for inventory control to control raw material and
finished good inventory using a series of wireless devices including
handheld scanners and forklift-mounted terminals. Devices
communicate real-time with the system to track the movement of
materials.
On the shipping side, forklift-mounted terminals control the movement
of goods from stock locations, or directly from production, to shipping
doors.
Handheld scanners are used to receive raw materials by reading barcode
tags located on incoming material. Purchase orders and lot
numbers are tracked to ensure that only on-order materials that meet
tolerances are received into your building.
Scanners are also used to reduce and simplify physical inventory tasks.
